Review
Franklin Sports MLB Crossfire Pro Baseball Batting Trainer requires 4 C sized batteries to operate. The batteries are not included. This pitching machine is made out of plastic. The height of the pitch can be adjusted by a plastic knob for the batter.
However, the package does include one dozen mini EVA foam baseballs. These balls are 1.5 inches in size and are very light. On a windy day, this pitching machine cannot be used outdoors because the wind affects the ball’s flight. It can only use these specific balls. Additional or replacement balls are available. Just look for Franklin #14940 balls.
Built for mobility
This is a very small pitching machine. It works with batteries, therefore, it can be used anywhere. Its dimensions when assembled are 5 ¾ x 16 ½ x 7 ¾ inches. It has a built in hopper style ball feeder which can hold up to 60 balls. This pitching machine pitches a ball automatically every 5 seconds.
This pitching machine is easy to setup and use. It can be used outdoors and indoors. Due to the size and weight of the balls, these cannot do much damage. Children can practice batting with no fear. These cannot hurt.
Solo training
The hopper style ball feeder can hold enough balls for non-stop batting practice. Start by adjusting the height of the pitch. Fill the bucket and one can start training.
It needs good eye-hand coordination to hit these small balls which is good for batting practice. It can be used by both baseball and softball players ages 7 and up.
The machine might not be the most durable pitching machine. It is made of plastic. Another issue to consider is the expense of batteries. It does need 4 C alkaline batteries to be used.
Bottom line: The Franklin Sports MLB Crossfire Pro Baseball Batting Trainer is a very affordable, lightweight and portable pitching machine that can be adjusted for pitch height. It uses #14940 foam balls that cannot be used on a windy day. Regardless, the small balls require good hand-eye coordination to hit and that is good for batting practice.
