Review

Jug Lite-Flite Baseball Pitching MachineThe Jug Lite-Flite Pitching Machine is lightweight. It only weighs 35 pounds and can be carried around in two bags. Users can choose to get the rechargeable battery pack. However, most can do without it.

It runs with a 1/8 horsepower motor than needs to be plugged in a 110 Volt A/C outlet. This baseball pitching machine has a swivel-design base that can rotate a full 360 degrees. Thus, it can throw both left and right-hand pitches. The swivel design allows for fastballs, curveballs and sliders. Through calibration, it can also throw fly-balls, ground balls and pop-ups. In short, it can pitch in any way one wants it to.

Using the dial, it can throw in varying speeds from 30 to 50 miles per hour depending on the distance. It can relieve any pitcher’s arm during training. Another good thing about it is that it does not pitch the ball in just one spot.

Kid’s choice

This pitching machine is great for practice use especially for children. Note that the recommended age starts at five years of age. Parents do not have to worry about bruises, broken bones or even broken windows using Jug Lite-Flight or Bulldog baseballs or softballs. The former is made out of sponge and the latter are poly whiffle balls.

Children can train or practice without fear of getting hit. These balls do not hit as hard as normal baseballs or softballs do. Hitting these balls is not hard on the hands either. Anyone’s hands can hurt after batting regular balls. However, using Lite-Flite or Bulldog balls, anyone can hit it more than a hundred times and not feel any pain. Kids can keep batting away. For this reason, both parents and children prefer to use it.

Not for self-training

The Jug Lite-Flite Pitching Machine is great for indoor practice during the winter months. However, one cannot train alone with it. Unlike other pitching machines, this does not come with an auto-ball feeder.

This pitching machine can throw the ball however one wants it to, but it does need to be recalibrated to do so. It does take a bit more effort than other pitching machines. Assembling it and then calibrating it can take a good 10 to 15 minutes.

This machine is a bit limited in the sense that it can only use specific Jug baseballs or softballs. Those with older children or are training older children might choose to get one that throws real baseballs instead.  All that said it is the best pitching machine to use if one wants a child to learn how to bunt fast pitched ball. It can also help young hitters who are shifting from tee ball to pitching.

One must also be prepared to spend a bit more money to get the balls. It can be used for a total of four types of Jug balls. Two dozen or so balls are probably enough. More than that, it will probably get too hard to keep track of all of them.

Bottom line: The Jug Lite-Flite Pitching Machine is a good product for indoor or outdoor use. It is affordable, lightweight, easy to use and assemble. With its 360 degree swivel design, it can practically perform any type of throw at varying speed.
